Emily Hampshire


Born and raised in Montreal, Emily Hampshire has made an indelible mark on the Canadian film and television industry in a relatively short period of time. Her work has been recognised by the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television with 3 Genie Award nominations, a Gemini Award for her work on the small screen and she was chosen by her peers in the Canadian Actors Guild as a nominee for Outstanding Female Performance at the ACTRA awards. 

At the 2012 Cannes International Film Festival, Emily received the Birks Canadian Diamond award during the Canadian Talent Tribute presented by Telefilm Canada for her career and work in the David Cronenberg directed movie COSMOPOLIS.  Hampshire appeared opposite Robert Pattinson in an unusual "huis clos", playing Jane Melman.

Later that year, Hampshire was praised by Variety for her "winning performance" in MY AWKWARD SEXUAL ADVENTURE by John Anderson after the film premiered at TIFF '12.  In 2013, Variety named her an international star you need to know, while also being featured on the NextGen Canada list by The Hollywood Reporter.  In that same year she starred in the futuristic zombie movie THE RETURNED by Manuel Carballo, wrapped THAT BURNING FEELING starring John Cho, and starred in ALL THE WRONG REASONS alongside Kevin Zegers and Cory Monteith, which appeared at TIFF '13

In 2015, Hampshire starred in a  pair of television series'.  SyFy's 12 MONKEYS, which premiered on January 16th, and the series SCHITTS CREEK alongside stars Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara which premiered in Canada on January 13th and in the US on POP (formerly TVGN) on February 11.  Both shows returned for a second season in 2016.  On July 1 of that same year, Emily won a Golden Maple award for newcomer of the year on a TV series broadcast in the US for her roles in 12 MONKEYS and SCHITTS CREEK.  

She next goes into production for director Xavier Dolan's English film debut THE LIFE AND DEATH OF JOHN F. DONOVAN in which she will star opposite Jessica Chastain and Kit Harrington, and will also be seen in Darren Aronofsky's MOTHER!

Emily currently splits her time between Los Angeles and Toronto.
