I’m Michelle Bensimon, and I was born and raised in Montreal, QC. I spent time in Toronto while studying theatre performance at Humber College, but after finishing school I just couldn’t stay away from home once joining my indie-pop band, Caveboy.

I play guitar and keyboard but am mostly the lead singer of this project; my voice has been compared to Belinda Carlisle, Stevie Nicks and other powerhouses of the 80’s, clearly inspired by the music of my parents generation (and have all of their vinyls to prove it!). Through Caveboy, I’ve had my songs placed in tv shows like Emergence, Orange is the New Black, Awkward, You’re the Worst, Killjoys & Wynona Earp, as well as movies & trailers like The New Romantic & The Unseen, and commercials for Ardene & Zara.

I also spend my time doing Sound Design & music composition in Toronto for theatre. I’ve been so fortunate to work on some wonderful shows such as Dora nominated Carried Away on the Crest of a Wave (Tarragon Theatre), The Drawer Boy (Theatre Passe Muraille), Acquiesce (Factory Theatre) and more. I love creating and designing worlds through sound & music, and being a part of a thriving theatre community.

Since theatre school, I’ve always had a love for voice acting and have done narrations for podcasts such as NPR’s “Suspect Convictions,” singing and creating jingles, and was the voice of DC Comics ‘Black Canary Music: Kicking and Screaming’ which came out alongside the new Black Canary comic series in 2016 & 2017.

I’m thrilled to be rejoining the acting world after spending time focusing on other parts of my career and my music. I used to feel like there was no place for my ‘alternative’ look, but as I’ve gotten back into it I see that there is. After becoming a full ACTRA member in under a year, I’m ready for more and I’m excited about the new opportunities to represent something different & unique.
